How to identify Nvidia card by serial number or picture? Discussion in 'nVidia Flavor' started by GPett, Sep 22, 2011. How do I identify the graphics card model and device ID in my PC? If your PC features an NVIDIA based graphics card and is using an NVIDIA display driver, you can identify the model of the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) in your graphics card by accessing the NVIDIA System Information section of the NVIDIA Control Panel.
I would like to know the model of my graphics card. I think it may be an ATI, but I want to be sure!
I have Ubuntu 11.10 (32 bit) and an Asus A6 VA laptop.

Open up 'Terminal', and type:
lspci | grep VGA
Graphics Card Part Number
There, you'll find your GPU card's model.

For detailed information about your graphics card, usually including its make and model, run:
This might give the make and model name more often than
lspci
, but it is not guaranteed to give it (nor is lspci
).sudo lshw -C display
is equivalent. You can run this (either one) without
sudo
, but you're a little less likely to get as much information. Still, lshw -C video
is a reasonable choice if you don't have administrative powers. If you like, you can parse the output to get just the line with the model name:
Or if you need to extract just the name (for example, for scripting purposes--but remember there isn't always anything to extract):
(Don't forget the space just after
-Fproduct:
, before the closing '
.)https://renewag807.weebly.com/belkin-80211n-wlan-adapter-driver.html. As an example: on my system, this gives:

Sometimes lspci is not enough:
e.g.: you can end up with something like this:
so then you can try to grep Xorg log:
and dmesg
sobi3chsobi3ch
- run gnome-control-center (from a terminal, or in the main menu system settings)
- search for 'system' and open 'System Info'
- You are done.

In KDE you can use the
kinfocenter
(open a command prompt from a graphical environment and type that, or type it at the K-menu [application menu] prompt; or navigate to K → Computer → Info Center .. ).Personally I use lshw or lspci as in other answers, but another possibility is :
glxinfo | grep Device
Which maybe only works if your device is using OpenGL, not sure, but for me this gives:
which is quite neat. The second number is the kernel version, fwiw.

If you want to detect your graphic card from Ubuntu Desktop, try this:
- Click on User menu at the top right corner on the top Menu bar
- Select System Settings
- Click on Details.
- By default you should see your graphic information. Take look at this example image.
Note: This answer was done in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS version.

I have an Nvidia GPU GTX 470 - Can I get it's serial number with out opening the case?
EDITThanks for all the comments: I tried the Device path as well as the WMIC command (which are the same actually)Value returned from the WMIC command
The WMIC (device path is) 2F1C4782 which is translated to: 790382466 (converted to decimal).
My card SN is: 101500021088 - I think this does not get the correct values.

Note: Note that this technique only works if the hardware manufacturer implements it. I can't give a percentage of accuracy, but I would guess the big players would implement it. If it's not implemented, Windows will generate a unique number instead.
https://renewag807.weebly.com/baseball-game-download-for-pc.html. Method 1 - Device Manager
Open the Windows Device Manager. Find your video card under Display Adapters. Double-click on it. Under the 'Details' tab, select the 'Device Instance Path' property.
Method 2 - WMI
Using WMI, at the command line, run the following command.
Method 3 - Use a Tool
Nvidia Graphics Card Update
A program like SIW will grab the PNP Device ID for you, but it won't do the parsing for the serial number.
Parsing It
Looking at the PNPDeviceID value, break it up by '.
- The first piece it the bus type. For me, it is PCI.
- The second section describes the card. There's a vendor code, model number, etc.
- The last section contains a number separated by ampersands. The serial number is the second number in that list, formatted in hex.

I contacted Nvidia via chat-support on this subject, and unfortunately the official answer to your question is no:
the only way to get the serial number of the graphics card is, it will be written on the graphics card hardware or the box of purchase.
